We just received notice from Ian Robertson; the Sport Consultant from the City of Edmonton, that Course layout 'C' has been approved. This means EDGA and City are ready to move forward with the next phase of this project and that is implementation of the 18 hole course!!!
Below are the immediate steps that will take place as we move forward with this project.
1) City Approval Letter/Sign Off Signatures on Program Statement:
- Community Services/Parks Letter will be created to officially Approve the Project with Final Layout C and Final Awareness Map
- Sign off Signatures will need to be collected for the Program Statement
2) Community Project Information Package:
- Before construction begins, the City will create a Project Info Package (project summary, letter of support, Final layout C/Awareness Map) for the web site: www.edmonton.ca/DiscGolfUpgrade and initiate a mail drop with that information for the residents along 102ave and 29th street.
- We feel that keeping everyone in the communication loop is vital to the success of this project. Stay tuned for that package. It's a very exciting time!!!
3) Implementation/Construction Requirements:
- Meetings will be set up accordingly with all stakeholders that need to be involved in the project for the implementation (i.e: City departments, EDGA reps etc)
- To be discussed at the meetings is the scope and phasing elements, cost estimate, secure labour (in house or contract out), set up the construction schedule, secure EDGA's expertise and Project Management commitment support, set up work parties, mark out the tee box areas/target areas, order targets, look at signage options etc. Much to do.
Proposed Project Phasing:
2008:
- Install 18 concrete tee box areas (either a 6'x12' or 5'x10' pad) to minimize erosion
- Install 1 practice target green
- Install 2 target options for each hole (1'x1' cement base to hold basket/pole)
- Install 37 sleeves for Innova Disc Pro Targets
- Install 9 of the 18 Innova Disc Pro Targets
- Realign entire course (relocate starting point of course)
- Relocate and reinstall Disc Golf message board
- Rehabilitate all tee off areas, target areas and other high foot traffic areas on course
2009-2010:
- Install the remaining 9 of the 18 Innova Disc Pro Targets
- Design, manufacture and install 11 Awareness Signs (9 Awareness signs, 2 yield signs)
- Design, manufacture and install 18 new Hole Signs
- Design, manufacture and install Disc Golf Rules Sign
