All divisions can register for the same $25 fee and a food bank donation which will get you 2 rounds of extreme winter disc golf and a 2012 Ice Bowl commemorative disc. All net proceeds for this year’s event will be going to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation.

This year’s Mark Chopp cup is scheduled for September 25th at Rundle Park Disc Golf Course and will follow the same schedule as the recent fundraiser tournament (singles, minis, doubles). At conclusion of the tournament EDGA will be treating all those who attend with a pizza dinner at Boston Pizza.

To see if you qualify for the finale check out the ongoing league results at http://league.edmontondiscgolf.org. If you don’t see your name or see “Attendance Too Low” sadly this means that you have failed to qualify for any payout however that does not mean that you, as an EDGA member, can’t attend and play a couple of rounds of disc.

To qualify for a full payout at your position you need to have a 65% or higher league attendance for the year. Format for payout and additional information can also be found at http://league.edmontondiscgolf.org.

The first event in Edmonton saw Wally walk away with the grand prize by throwing 1 ace and 6 metals, Andrew and Tom picked up second and third with 1 ace and 3 metals each. In total there were 34 players making 7 aces and 54 metals. The second event at Strathcona Wilderness Centre saw 23 players make 9 aces and 28 metals total with Dan capturing the victory with 3 aces and 2 metals.

In doing so we’re much closer to a fully PDGA compliant course and momentum is in our favor. So to help facilitate the purchase of a few more baskets EDGA is hosting a fundraiser tournament on August 28, 2011 at the Rundle Park Disc Golf Course.

The first will be at Rundle Park Disc Golf Course on September 10th at 4:00pm. The second will be held the following day, September 11th, at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre with the rounds kicking off at 12:00pm. The tournament entry fee is $30 if you wish to participate in 1 event or just an additional $10 if you’ll be playing in both. Each player will receive 2 prototype discs (heavy wide putter) from Discraft as well as a “Weekender Bag” (pics below).

The tournament attracted 53 players from all over Alberta. The overall tournament winter was our local pro Chad Gamelin who finished with a tournament best -18 over three rounds. The most fiercely contested division was the Advanced division which saw 12 people battle it out with Trent Mills being victorious. You’ll find all of the tournament results in the attached spreadsheet.
