The first 25 players to register receive a free event disc!

• Novice players can use all of their discs
• Advanced/Grandmaster players can use any two discs
• Masters players can use only a midrange
• Pros can use only a putter

Entry fee for all divisions is $10.00 with proceeds going towards the purchase of the remaining baskets as well as the River City Cup Tournament. Payouts will be given to the top 5 overall players.

You’ll notice that this year’s shirts contain “D.S.W.C.C.” on the sleeves. A new tradition that we are starting this year is that members who make a valuable contribution to EDGA throughout the previous year will have their first initial put on the sleeve. This year’s initials stand for Dan, Shayne, Wally, Chris N and Chad.

While we’d love to say that it was prefect out of the gate, we’ve taken some feedback and tweaked the attendance requirement for total payout for the 2012 campaign. The previous 65% ended up being a tad ambitious and we’ve decided to try a more modest 50%. This means that over the 21 session that EDGA will host, you’ll need to attend just 11 this time around. A side effect of this change is that just 11 of your best rounds will be averaged together to calculate your final score heading into the finale tournament which could lead to some lower scores this time around. The rest of the format will remain intact.

With the fantastic weather Edmonton is having this spring, we’re going to try and push the season opening tag tournament up a couple of weeks to April 22, 2012. This event will start at 10:00 AM (registration at 9:00 AM) with 2 rounds who’s results will dictate your starting tag.

The weekly Thursday Competitive League will then begin on April 26 at 6:30 PM (groups assigned at 6:15 PM) and continue through September 13th with the finale tournament on September 16th (more information to follow at a later date).

Sunday Doubles

Weather permitting and no conflicts with the Alberta Tour, Doubles will run on every Sunday at 11:00 AM starting April 29th. Following the same format as last year, the entry fee will be $3.00 for EDGA members with $2.00 going towards the winning team and $1 going towards a “closest to the pin” contest at the end of each day.

Tuesday Night Chingles

“Chingles” will be held every Tuesday evening 6:30 PM starting April 24th. Chingles is not just for EDGA members looking to mingle and play a “for fun” round but it’s a fantastic way for players new to the sport and even those just curious about Disc Golf to get introduced to the more technical aspects and rules of Disc Golf. New players and non-EDGA members are encouraged to come out and try some actual PDGA sanctioned discs and learn how to throw properly and more accurately by the EDGA executive and its more senior players. EDGA members can play for free and non-members will be asked to donate $2.00 to EDGA’s new basket fund.

All totaled we raised $405 for the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation as well as 30 lbs. of food for the Edmonton Food Bank.

In order for us to make this happen we need all the help and support possible for the upcoming 2012 season, because of this we are hosting our AGM (annual general meeting) on March 18, 2012 at the ACT Centre starting at 12:00 PM (noon), this meeting is to talk about the past year, where the club is financially, the plan for 2012 season and who can do what for the club to make it run smooth and to reach our goals. We would like to ask all that can to attend this meeting to please do so.

One of the focuses is to attract more individuals to the club as the more members we have the more we can accomplish, 3 years ago we had a record of 56 members and this year we would like to break that record.
