Park 96 to be exclusive for rest of 2009July 13 2009

The maintainers of the Alberta Disc Golf website have recently sent me the below:

"Recently there have been a lot of non-member disc golfers showing up at the Park 96 gates wanting access to the park, which is causing issues for the maintenance staff.  Park 96 is a PRIVATE community park and players are allowed access to the park to play golf as Associate Members only.  Associate Memberships are no longer available for the 2009 Season. By no means should non-member disc golfers show up and expect entry into the park."

While Calrgary's Park 96 might be gated for the rest of 2009 rest assured that both of the fantastic and newly renovated facilities in Edmonton and in Wetaskiwin are open year round for all to play and enjoy.  We at EDGA hope to see Park 96 reopen for associate members next year.

Continued ImprovementsJuly 12 2009

With each passing day EDGA and Disc Golf in Edmonton gets better and stronger:  the new course was completed in record time, the new modern and beautiful website launched, the River City cup is shaping up to be the best ever and to top it all off the first 4 brand new Innova baskets arrived and were installed!

These new baskets are the result of EDGA members donating the required money to have them ordered.  Without the investment of these members we'd still be using the old, wearing out (some already broken) and home made baskets.  So please, if you see somebody hanging off them or using them for any activity that is not Disc Golf related do not hesitate to let them know what they are for and to leave them alone.

New Course Layout For DownloadJuly 7 2009

Now that the course has been put into the ground the most common question is "How does the new course work?".  To ease the pain while the new signs are being developed we have created a printiable PDF document that has the entire course including both target locations!

A Day of FirstsJuly 5 2009

Sunday July 5th of 2009 was a day of firsts! It wasn't just the first Sunday doubles on the new Rundle Park Disc Golf Course which included 19 paid players; but it was also the first league witnessed hole in one on the new course! Dan had the honors of throwing the first ace on hole #14. Congrats to Dan and thanks to all the EDGA members who helped break-in the new digs!

Welcome to the new EDGAJuly 4 2009

Welcome to the new EDGA website.  We're still growing into it and over the next few weeks we'll be unrolling a host of new options and new features to better grow the disc golf community in and around the Edmonton area.  However what we have now is both better looking, quicker to load, and easier to update than our past website so feel free to check out the new galleries and updated layout and if you have any problems or you would like to suggest something please feel free to contact us via the contact form here.

Course Ready to PlayJune 27 2009

The course is now installed and ready to play (mostly). We are still short one basket but the old baskets are in the new pin locations and the tee pads are all ready to go. If anyone with a basket is willing to donate it to the course for a couple of weeks we can have the full 18. Thanks again to John Dale for the assistance in lugging the buckets around.

Great News!June 18 2009

The construction of the new Rundle Park disc golf course has officially started, and most of the concrete tee boxes have been poured and the rest of the construction will continue for the next 3 weeks, as the old signs and baskets will be removed by the end of next week.
